Usually after the strip is cut by the sprocter equipment, an important problem that needs to be paid attention to is how to ensure the accuracy of coiling. This is because during the operation of the slabbing machine, due to the defects of strip shape crown and flatness, there may be problems of canine interlacing and tension inequality in the strip after shearing. The uneven winding tension of each narrow band leads to tower shape, channeling layer and other shortcomings, which can present the phenomenon of winding collapse when severe.

In view of this problem, the use of looper can properly compensate for the shortcomings of the narrow band canine interlacing after shearing through the sprocket. After shearing, it is important to establish uniform tension after each narrow band passes through the looper. Now manufacturers will choose different methods to deal with this problem, the more common pressure plate tension equipment, segmented pneumatic tension roller, vacuum tension roller, rotating vortex tension equipment.

Meanwhile, the pressing plate tension equipment has been welcomed by people for its advantages of simple and useful structure and larger tension. However, the tension adjustment accuracy of the equipment is low. Restricted by the shear speed and the requirements of the strip surface, it is now mostly used for the strip thickness greater than 1.0mm and the stripe machine system with low speed and low requirements on the strip surface.

There is also a more commonly used now called segmented pneumatic tension equipment. With the assistance of tension control equipment, the scuttling machine helps the strip to keep stable during the shearing process, and avoids the strip beating at high speed, which is conducive to high speed operation.

In addition to the above equipment, there is now a relatively new type of equipment, namely rotary eddy current tension equipment. In the production of the slitting machine, the use of this equipment can be more accurate to complete the control of tension. Especially in the use of slitting machine shear 0.05mm ~ 4.0mm thickness of the strip is more advantageous.
